Supporting the trend towards an energy mix and electrification
Dear Readers,
The summer holidays are here, and we’re proud to be back in this newsletter with all the success stories that have marked the first half of 2023. We have innovated and presented our solutions at some of Europe’s most famous events.
The building and energy sectors are constantly evolving, with new ecological requirements and new ways of working. Energy mix, carbon footprint reduction, electrification while reducing costs but also project deadlines. As a result, professionals need powerful technology and solid work processes.
To support the acceleration of photovoltaics, we are continuing to develop the archelios™ Suite range, which we have presented in the Netherlands, Spain, Morocco and of course France at trade fairs dedicated to renewable energy. Our photovoltaic solutions have been noticed and appreciated.
In May, we launched elec calc™ Project, a collaborative platform that enables online collaboration on elec calc™ projects. This collaborative project management in a secure environment brings together several players and expertise around the same project. Coactivity in electrical design is on the rise and will accompany the digitalisation of working methods.
September 2023 will be promising, with innovations for elec calc™ that will speed up and optimise design times on tertiary projects, with new schematic and rapid input functionalities. On the photovoltaic side, the archelios range will offer new possibilities to meet the growing demand for self-consumption of energy to offset rising energy costs.
Renewable energies, electrification, decarbonization: the energy transition is a crucial issue for everyone. Trace Software is committed to working with and for its customers to provide ever more effective R&D solutions and thus revolutionize electrical design.

News and blog
Electrical design: what are the different types of short circuit currents?
The different types of short-circuit currents are parameters to be taken into account in the electrical design. Depending on installation type, earthing system and the point in which a short-circuit may happen, we do not exactly know which one of them will be the most harmful. elec calc™ can calculate different types of short-circuit.
Solar production forecast: what are the key factors?
The annual yield of a photovoltaic system depends on many factors, not all of which are equally influential. The purpose of this article is to address some of the most important of these factors, from incident irradiation on the modules, to injection into the grid.
How is it possible to check thermal stress in an electrical conductor?
elec calc™ software calculates the maximum let-through energy on all the conductors and compares it to their thermal withstand value. This verification applies to the phases but also to the neutral and to the PE. If this condition is not met a thermal stress error is displayed on the cable. In the event of a thermal stress problem, it is always possible to oversize the cross-section of the conductors, thus increasing their admissible thermal stress. However, other possibilities can overcome this increase in section
Photovoltaic: what is self-consumption?
A solar self-consumption installation uses the PV electricity generated on-site to meet the energy needs of the consumer while minimizing or excluding the use of electricity from the utility grid. As the energy is generated on site, transmission losses are kept at a minimum. It is an optimal choice for home or industry energy efficiency as it allows significant savings.
