The leading role of photovoltaics in the Spanish market

The Spanish solar market is experiencing a very exciting phase of reignition after a government decree eliminated bureaucratic hurdles, the reduction of production and installations costs and the promotion of a better framework for self-consumption.

According to the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan, PV energy in Spain will go from the current 4.7 GW to 34 GW by 2030.

“The Spanish electricity market is experiencing an exciting moment of consolidation of PV technology as the new market leader in the next decade, in which the Spain PV market will be confirmed as one of the largest markets in Europe. Tenders, PPAs, merchant, and self-consumption are the different sectors that PV is going to cover,” states José Donoso, General Director of UNEF.
