We are at your service at all times

Dears readers,

The first trimester of the year is almost coming to an end with many unexpected and unforeseeable events worldwide.

In these times of uncertainty, we all need to adopt the necessary measures to help our communities to stay safe. Thanks to our flexible working policies, we are able to keep our compromise with our beloved clients and prospects as usual.

Our commitment to deliver last generation software solutions that simplify the lives of thousands of engineering professionals remains unchanged. We sustain our continuous innovation and investment in R+D. Hopefully you appreciate and enjoy our tools, enabling you to face the future challenges of a faster changing industry.

We are also proud to have started the year with the right gear. We have launched the latest version of archelios™, archelios™ Pro and Calc for the photovoltaic industry and the latest version of elec calc™ for the electrical calculation of any type of installation. Both enjoy our latest BIM native technologies.

We are eager to read your impressions and get your feedback, do not hesitate to share as your benefits and satisfaction as user are our main success driver.

The time of the year is also an ideal opportunity to take a break and express words of appreciation to our teams’ talents: their love for innovation, their creative pride, and their dedication to the customer is key to our growth, especially during this uncertain time.

Let’s be strong!

New In

The latest version of elec calc™ is already available on the market. The software guarantees the optimal sizing and the calculation performance in real-time of any electrical installation.

Explore the features and benefits of elec calc™ 2020:

• Direct currents module – optional

elec calc™ now includes a direct current module for dimensioning auxiliary networks (control-command), distribution of sockets and/or lighting. Now it is easy to manage direct current in the electrical project.

• Management of the holding time of the UPS systems

We help the professional to build highly resistant, reliable and secure electrical installations. With elec calc™, the calculation of the thermal stresses between a UPS and the first downstream protection is possible. Moreover, a time/current curve allows visualizing the UPS in the selectivity studies.

• Integration of a catalog manager

The user can create a customized catalog with the preferred manufacturers and ranges. It is also possible to sort the products by country, to memorize the configurations and reuse them according to the projects.

archelios™ O&M will provide information on the production, alarms and analytical data, in a timely, efficient and precise manner to detect any anomaly of the PV plant. These anomalies and alarms, in case of similar anomalies at different points, are provoked by the same cause, are grouped and optimized so that the user does not receive a huge amount of unnecessary repeated messages.

Moreover, it provides a comparison of the measured production with respective references:

· The production simulation plan computed in the design phase based on TMY (Typical Meteorological Year).

· The effective expected production base on real irradiation and temperature data on site during operation.

It collects the different technical and production real-time data from the PV plants with real flexibility regarding hardware equipment, inverters and data loggers as well as the number of variables and preprocessing to increase collected data accuracy.

  • THERMAL STRESS IN AN ELECTRIC CONDUCTOR

The elec calc™ software calculates the maximum let-through energy on all the conductors and compares it to their thermal withstand value (according to the formula k²×S²). This verification applies to the phases but also to the neutral and to the PE. If this condition is not met a thermal stress error is displayed on the cable. In the event of a thermal stress problem, it is always possible to oversize the cross-section of the conductors, thus increasing their admissible thermal stress. However, other possibilities can overcome this increase in section.

  • THE 5 BIGGEST SOLAR PANEL TECHNOLOGIES

In the last decade, the world has experienced a major energy shift. After the acknowledgment of the dangers of fossil coal use, international governments have turned their look to renewable energy sources to build a sustainable future. Amongst clean energy sources, solar energy represents a promising option to reduce carbon footprint. Bell Labs invented the first silicon solar cell in 1954, but it is only in the past ten years that solar PV has established itself as a solution to address both the world’s energy growing demand challenge and greenhouse gas concern. Amongst the biggest game-changing solar panels technologies, there are floating solar panels, solar power in space, solar cell fabrics and much more.

  • BIM AND SUSTAINABILITY

The sustainability of the construction sector can be measured by defining how green the building is in terms of energy and material consumption during its construction, use, maintenance, and demolition. A better management of resources, thanks to the BIM objects database, guarantees improved efficiency during the entire building life process. Nowadays, BIM is still little used in the electricity sector, even if it can bring important advantages in terms of energy efficiency as errors and wastes are reduced. Unfortunately, many activities are still carried out outside the digital model, such as the power balance, the wiring system connecting the sources and loads to the protective equipment, the sizing of the cables themselves, and the coordination with other disciplines such as the thermomechanical one. However, loads, generators, transformers, and electrical panels can be represented in the model by using generic objects. These components must be inserted into appropriate electrical circuits that also include control devices, protective equipment, and connecting cables.

  • 5 REASONS WHY ELEC CALC™ BIM IS A STATE-OF-AN-ART SOFTWARE

elec calc™ BIM is the first software in the world that perfectly integrates the electrical calculation into the Open BIM process.

    1. The only Open BIM solution on the market: elec calc™ BIM enables the user to exchange with all the architecture software on the market, such as Revit, Archicad, etc thanks to the IFC4 format. To facilitate these exchanges, plugins are directly integrated into the architecture software, such as Revit, to manage the links with elec calc™ BIM.

    2. A complementary and autonomous tool for the architecture software: once the model is imported in elec calc™ BIM the user can navigate thanks to its integrated viewer and generate the different views or sections expected. Thus, it is possible to manage the entire study in a single interface.

Events

  • BIM World Paris

The value proposition of BIMWORLD Paris is to create relevant business synergies in between all the parties involved in the whole life-cycle of the building project. By convening different needs and professions (design, construction, operation, real estate, urban planning, sustainable development, and smart territories), it will be possible to analyze how BIM is driving the digital transformation of the entire building ecosystem.

BIM is a disruptive force which is establishing a new business model. It is changing the way buildings look, are built, and even function. To stay competitive, professionals are required to possess a new set of skills and tools. Trace Software International, the leader in developing advanced engineering solutions, confirms its participation in the BIMWORLD. The company will showcase elec calc™ BIM, the first software providing a seamless integration of the electrical calculations into the Open BIM process. Along 2 intensives days of the exhibition (7th and 8th July 2020), there will be world leaders and conferences highlighting good practices and trends.
