Trace Software is pleased to introduce the innovations developed in 2023 elec calc™ electrical calculation software.
elec calc™ is a software dedicated to high and low voltage electrical installations, which enables real-time calculation of projects, according to current international standards, whether for industrial, tertiary, EV installations or high voltage structures. The software has unique features that facilitate studies and guarantee the quality of installations.
In 2023, Trace Software has chosen to develop functionalities both for complex installations requiring high voltage management and for tertiary installations by optimizing ergonomics in order to speed up project design.
Digital continuity of calculation and schematics for the tertiary sector and industry
For Industry
elec calc™- EPLAN Electric P8 gateway: saving time on electrical CAD design.
Users of EPLAN’s Electric P8 software will also be able to automatically generate their diagrams from calculations made in elec calc™.
Used mainly in the industrial engineering sector, EPLAN Electric P8 is a CAD software designed for the automation of electrical engineering design. It supports a wide variety of engineering methods: from manual creation through to standardised and template-based approaches.
elec calc™ now has a gateway that allows the diagram of an electrical installation to be exported to EPLAN Electric P8. Engineers retrieve the distribution architecture and equipment selection made in the elec calc™ project and send them to Electric P8 to generate automatically the schematic design.
Optimisations for high voltage and complex installations
Directional overcurrent protection (ANSI 67)
elec calc™ integrates directional protection and inter-trip. Directional protection is used to detect short-circuits selectively according to the direction of current flow. It can therefore only detect currents flowing in a given direction.
Inter-trip is a link between two circuit-breakers which, in the event of one tripping, forcibly trips the other. The main purpose of inter-tripping is to ensure a coordinated response from the protection devices to isolate a faulty zone.
Management of time-dependent curves
elec calc™ integrates the high voltage protection relays and allows a phase and zero sequence protection plan to be defined. It is possible to define phase overcurrent protection (ANSI 51/50 and ANSI 67) and zero sequence overcurrent protection (ANSI 51N/50N and ANSI 67N).
For each of the overcurrent protections, it is possible to choose a threshold, a time delay and a tripping curve according to the choices available on the selected manufacturer reference.
Electrical standards: what’s new
New with the BS standard and changes to the RGIE
BS 7671 – The British Standard is now available in elec calc™. It includes installation methods and all the associated controls.
RGIE – The controls linked to the type of differential are now integrated into the recently updated paragraph 7.722 dedicated to IRVE terminals.
Integrating new components
Flexible bar ducts
The ERIFLEX FlexBus range from nVent has been integrated into the ducting section in elec calc™ manufacturer catalogue. It is now possible to model the flexible bar ducts generally installed at the output of transformers or alternators for ease of installation.
More ergonomics for design
New functions have been developed to speed up project design. Quick entry, component explorer, diagram 2.0 and automatic location modification automate the design stages as far as possible.
