With headquarters in France and offices all over the world, Apave is a leader in supporting companies and communities in their efforts to control their technical, human and environmental risks, through a complete range of services.
The group consists of 130 agencies, 34 laboratories and test centers, 170 training sites and 50 international locations.
In early 2018, the Apave group, specialist in improving safety, training and corporate performance, renewed its trust in Trace Software International with the acquisition of 35 elec calc™ licenses, 10 training licences and 3 technical trainings. The software was chosen to run inspection and technical support activities for the design of installations and dimensioning of electrical networks.
The inspection purpose is to check the conformity of the installations. Initial checks are done based on client’s native elec calc™ files. The software makes it easier to visualize and identify problems that appear in the installation. The checks are then faster.
On the technical side, the teams work with engineering departments during the design phase of technical installations, and use the software to optimize projects, size networks, or provide advice. In some cases, calculation notes can be made by the Apave.
«We’re getting more and more native files built with the latest version of elec calc™. The use of a powerful, ergonomic and up-to-date interface software is essential», says Frank Lemasle, Head of field performance of electrical installations Apave SA.
Why Trace Software International
The choice of software was the subject of an in-depth study in 2017, in which elec calc™ was facing two competitors. The solutions were evaluated using a matrix divided into themes such as drawing functionalities, calculation functionalities, manufacturer database, opening to the BIM, price… After the analysis of a hundred parameters, according to the Apave’s technical criteria, elec calc™ has been chosen as the ideal solution.
elec calc™ is a software dedicated to high and low voltage electrical installations, which allows calculation in real time and in compliance with international standards. The software makes it possible to conduct simulations and anticipate future needs. The Apave experts particularly appreciated the management of high and low voltage in the same project, the user-friendliness of the interface, the centralized administration of licenses by a single manager at the national level or the possibility of using mobile licenses.
elec calc™ is part of a national training plan within the Apave. It is carried out in two stages. As a first step, trainers follow a training with Trace Software International to train their clients. In a second step, these trainers train the internal stakeholders. The training process began in 2018 and will run until 2019.
«The goal today is to train one person per agency which represents between 120 and 150 people as a minimum. The purpose is to provide an immediate response to customers migrating to the new version of the software», Franck Lemasle concludes.
