Software for electrical design of embedded systems
elecworks™ Onboard is a CAD/CAE solution specifically designed to meet electrical and communication projects that have specific requirements in terms of management and design.
Onboard solution comes with a user friendly management interface, through which can be defined everything from your companies preferred standards for drawings naming conventions, to the field prompts suppliers need to populate.
A new dialog has been created to customize up to 20 user attributes on the labels of wires and / or equipotentials, accessible via the contextual menu.
Up to 6 fields (diameter, section, wire size, color, bend radius and signal) with wire style properties available in wires and equipotential labels.
The information on these attributes can be displayed on wires and equipotential labels, and connections reports.
New options in the wire contextual menu to show/hide wire/equipotential label.
Users can decide if the labels are shown or not, according to the ATA (Air Transport Association) standard.
A new type of symbol “wire and equipotential label” allows elecworks™ Onboard users display several attributes corresponding to equipotential / wire.
With this new label, the user can see the information associated to the wire or equipotential directly in the same drawing, thus can carry out a full project design according to their needs.
The label design and attributes layout can be customizable by users.
New symbol to define the location outline that allows the user to customize the symbol attributes.
User can choose different shapes: thin, filled or doubled.
Thus, the installation competences are displayed in a visual way.
Also, a zigzag can be added at the bottom of the symbol to show that it is only a part of the installation.
New options in the Graphic project settings to assign symbols to the wire/equipotential/location label.
Users can personalize the assigned symbol to the labels for the whole project.
Also, a new report has been created, the connection report From-To to define the connections and their properties.
User will see which devices are connected and the properties of the equipotential/wire. This report is customizable by the user.
In addition to terminals, connectors are common connection elements in electrical installations.
elecworks includes a dynamic tool to draw and insert connector symbols. Simply define the number and type of pins in the manufacturer reference (male or female, power, auxiliary…) and elecworks will create them.
As with PLCs, connector symbols are drawn from a base model. It is possible to modify this model to adjust dimensions, define what attributes are displayed, which drawings are added depending on the type of pin…
These settings are stored in configuration templates. And as with other resources, templates can be archived and shared with other users.
Industrial connectors may have a large number of pins. In this case, it may be useful to draw multiple symbols for one connector. For example, in the following figure, J1 and J2 are 24-pin connectors. J1 is represented by means of a single 24-pin symbol. On the other hand, for J2 three symbols have been drawn: one with 12-pin and two with 6-pin.
This tool is very useful in the design of hoses and harness.
